Centuries of Exchange Between Chinese and Islamic Worlds

Two audiovisual installations are produced for this exhibition.

The immersive installation Bestiaire offers visitors a unique, sensory and poetic experience, through spectacular and interactive videos.

Within a large circular space, over 180 °, a show projected on the ground and on the wall immerses the visitor. Three large visual trips follow one another.

The 1st evokes the birth of the dragon and the phoenix in a mineral, ocher and desert world. On the ground, gold dust recedes under the footsteps of visitors, revealing scorpions seeking to hide.

The 2nd scene is aquatic, dragon and phoenix chase each other in the middle of algae, in turquoise and deep blue waters. The visitor interacts with the waves and the flora.

The last trip is air. Under a luminous sky, the visitor contemplates the fight of the dragon and the phoenix while creating delicate clouds under his feet.

The bestiary is inspired by extraordinary animals from the works in the exhibition and from Chinese and Oriental tales.

The second installation, Céramique, is a documentary broadcast on two large vertical screens. The film is an immersion as closely as possible to the ceramics presented in the exhibition.

The curator of the exhibition, Sophie Makariou, presents a selection of works that are exceptional for their finesse and beauty, the result of multiple exchanges between the East and China.
